As the struggle for the 2018 Governorship Election in Osun
State gathers momentum, it appears the rumoured friction within the
ruling APC in the state, is also garnering strength.
A leader of the All Progressives Congress in Osun state
Fatai Diekola fondly called "Jagun Aaso" by his political associates and
followers was quoted to have berated the state governor rauf
Aregbesola for gross misrule of the state.
"we brought him to power from Lagos, we will also send him
away" fatai Diekola chorused in the midst of some party supporters at
the campaign office of the deputy speaker of the house of
Representatives,Lasun Yusuf.
"I greet all of you party members..we just came back from
Ondo state governor inauguration now, some people couldn't go...they
were scared and afraid, but they are part of us..we are many in this
fight...whoever want them, should join us, we are "liberation front".I
was there with my friend, former governor Isiaka Adeleke was also
there....God will send the sole Administrator (Ajeele) away...
".you people should not worry, our victory in ondo state will be replicated here... Don't mind them..."
"God will soon liberate us from this slavery, very soon, we
will rejoice....whoever wants to become governor, will need to be very
courageous.....and we are ready to achieve what we achieved in Ondo
state here....I know God will make it happen"
"I beg all you, don't allow them to cause problem within
us, we can all see what's happening. We cannot leave the party for them,
they are the ones that would go for us. We are not APC-AD"
"We have never seen what we're seeing here in Osun before,
how can only one person be the party and be the Governor...how much did
they even construct the schools they built"
Chief Diekola said all these at an empowerment programme of
the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuff in
osogbo on friday.
Recall that Hon Lasun Yusuff and Governor Rauf Aregbesola
have not been in good term since the election that produced the former
as the deputy speaker of the house in 2015.
The unfriendly relationship between the two has been
reported to have caused a division within the party, forcing party
faithful to choose side.
Although, it was reported sometimes ago, that a peace
meeting was called to bring all aggrieved members together and end the
grouse within the party, the "words" of Diekola on friday might be just
be a pointer to the fact that the discord is still very much alive and
breathing heavily.
